Protecting Optics in Extreme Heat

The camera and lens are delicate; the protective cover is what lets them survive inside a furnace.

A multi-layer stainless cover, a sapphire pinhole window and continuous air + water cooling work together to shield the optics.

Stainless Protective Cover

Extra-long stainless cover extends the lens through the furnace wall.

Sapphire Pinhole Window

Hard, heat-resistant sapphire with only a 1 mm port exposed.

Water Cooling

Circulating water carries radiant heat away from the cover.

Air Cooling & Curtain

Air cools the optics and forms a curtain at the pinhole.

Confirm air, water and signal connections are correct.

Turn on compressed air and ventilate for about 5 minutes.

Power On

Switch on power once cooling is confirmed.

Insert

Guide the protected probe into the furnace.
