Power Plant Boiler Inspection

Inspect the furnace of a utility boiler while the unit runs — check burner balance, flame, water-wall tubes and slagging without a forced outage.

01 / Overview

High Temperature Inspection for Power Plant Boilers

A utility boiler runs continuously between major outages, and any furnace problem — poor combustion, heavy slagging or tube damage — directly affects load, heat rate and availability.

Our high temperature endoscope inspects the furnace through existing observation ports while the unit fires, so combustion and the surrounding heating surfaces are checked live, without dropping load for cooling.

02 / Why It Matters

Why Utility Boiler Inspection Matters

Large boiler furnaces are affected by:

Unbalanced burner combustionHeavy furnace slaggingWater-wall high-temperature corrosionTube overheating & bulgingSuperheater foulingFlame impingement on walls

A forced outage on a power unit is extremely costly. Live furnace inspection links slagging or a flame problem to its location, so combustion is corrected and outages are planned, not forced.

03 / Inspection Targets

What We Look For

Burner Flame & Balance

Flame shape, ignition and balance across all burners.

Water-Wall Tubes

High-temperature corrosion, overheating, bulging and slag coverage.

Furnace Slagging

Molten and sintered deposits on furnace walls.

Superheater / Reheater

Fouling and condition of pendant heating surfaces.

Burner Throats & Nozzles

Burner hardware condition and flame impingement.

Hopper & Lower Furnace

Ash build-up and lower furnace wall condition.

04 / Coverage

Power Boilers We Cover

Pulverised Coal (PC) Boiler

Burner zone, water walls and superheater monitoring.

CFB Boiler

Combustion chamber, cyclone and refractory areas.

Gas / Oil-Fired Boiler

Flame quality and furnace wall condition.

Biomass Boiler

Combustion, slagging and fouling monitoring.

Supercritical Unit

Furnace and high-temperature heating surfaces.

Waste-to-Energy Boiler

Combustion chamber and refractory condition.

05 / Procedure

Inspection Procedure

1

Prepare Access

Use an existing furnace observation port and prepare the insertion point.

2

Insert Endoscope

Guide the cooled probe into the furnace.

3

Live Observation

View flame, water walls and slagging in real time.

4

Capture Records

Record images and video across burner elevations.

5

Maintenance Evaluation

Provide references for combustion tuning and outage planning.
